Challenges And Debates Sociotechnical Systems

The study of sociotechnical systems and value judgments in technology is not without challenges and debates: Conflicting Values: Societies often have conflicting values, and technology development can raise questions about whose values should prevail. Balancing these values in a fair and equitable manner can be challenging. Cultural Relativism: The acknowledgment of cultural values raises questions about cultural relativism and the imposition of one culture's values on another. Striking a balance between respecting cultural diversity and upholding universal ethical principles can be complex. Technological Determinism: The influence of value judgments sometimes conflicts with the deterministic view of technology. Sociotechnical systems emphasize the human and social agency in shaping technology, challenging deterministic perspectives. Unintended Consequences: While value judgments guide technology development, they can also lead to unintended consequences. The choices made w...

NVIDIA RTX 4000: WHAT WILL THE NEXT GENERATION OF VIDEO CARDS LOOK LIKE?

The rumors have been chasings each other for months now, between finalized design, a steeper generational leap than expected and a semiconductor crisis that still makes it impossible to buy video cards.

While we are still struggling to find an RTX Series 30, we are already starting to talk about Lovelace and Hopper , these are the names to keep in mind for the next generation. But what do we really knows about the RTX 4000 Series?

Ada Lovelace and Grace Hopper

There are many rumors and few officialities but we can begin to get an idea of what the future holds. A sensational crossroads for the next generation, still hovering right between the two architectures.

On the one hand we find Lovelace with the AD102 chip , on the other hand Hopper and the GH202 GPU, but let's proceed in order, just like the two scientists and mathematicians honored by NVIDIA would do.

As early as May, kopite , a true authority on the NVIDIA front, revealed some of the information in his possession. Confident of the 5-nanometer production process , there are many question marks in his posts, starting with the entire strategy of the green team. Many of NVIDIA's next moves, according to kopite, will be decided in function of the historical rival AMD and the performance of the RDNA3 cards.

The choice, if Lovelace's performance were not sufficiently up to par, would fall on the GH202 chip. This chip, according to the leaker, should provide more than double the Cuda Cores of the 30 series and the entire Hopper project should lead to unprecedented energy efficiency , with performance even tripled compared to the best Ampere solutions.

Some certainties and a future yet to be written

In recent days, the tweets of Greymon , one of the most reliable informants on the square, have also made a lot of talk . The leaker said he is 100% sure that Ada Lovelace will be the name of the next generation architecture .

The project would have already been finalized and the rumors about the NVIDIA RTX 4000 should be considered final. In particulars, there has been a lot of discussion about the AD102 chip, the next high-end gaming solution that at this point could have 18432 CUDA cores and over 66 single-precision teraflops. As for production, the 5-nanometer production process is now confirmed, with the creation of the chips entrusted to TSMC .

The unknowns are currently still many. Among other rumors, there are also those who, like the YouTube channel Moore's law is dead , argue that Ada Lovelace could be part of the Orin project and therefore refer not only to next generation video cards but also and above all toSoC for autonomous driving , despite the Orin being a project currently based on Ampere.

A veritable volcano of rumors, which has questioned even the hypotheses of kopite , arguing that NVIDIA's strategy could be much simpler than expected . In the event of a particularly sensational launch by AMD, according to the youtuber, NVIDIA could simply offer Lovelace-based video cards at the lowest possible price.

What everyone seem to agree on is the launch date instead. The appointment with the nvidia 40 series seems to have already been set for the end of 2022, two years after the launch of the 30 series with ampere architecture.

Now it's your turn: what do you think of the next generation of NVIDIA? Will it once again be a revolution or is a period of transition ahead of us?
