further step forward. In fact, the Korean company's 2021 passes through the
keywords "Neo QLED" , a technology that brings the quantum processor
Neo Quantum and Quantum Mini LEDs to the brand's new TVs.1/40 in size compared to
traditional LEDs. This solution allows you to have a particularly accurate
brightness control, with intense blacks that are very close to the OLED
experience, bright colors and more realistic images, whether you are watching a
football match or playing on our favorite console. Four new 2021 Neo QLED TVs
were in fact the first to receive Gaming TV Performance certification from
Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE) , a German certification body in the
electrical engineering sector. We went to the Samsung District in Milan to see
the new Neo QLED 2021 TVs with our own eyes and here's how it went.
Neo QLED for gaming
Finding us on Everyeye, it seems right to start right from
gaming : if you have already purchased a current gen console, PS5 or Xbox
Series X, the new Neo QLED 8K and 4K QN900, QN800, QN90 and QN85 TVs guarantee
you a very low input lag ( lower at 10ms ) and an HDR with brightness above
1000 Nit . Thanks to FreeSync Premium Pro technology, you can also minimize the
slowdown of the images on the screen, so as to have a smooth gaming experience
to the extreme. The news does not end there, since Samsung's new Neo QLEDs
process 12-bit color and backlighting . Thanks to Wide Game View and Game Bar
we can also have awider field of view with 21: 9 and 32: 9 formats , we can
also reach 120Hz with Motion Xcelerator Turbo + technology , while the sound is
managed by the Object Tracking Sound (OTS) Pro system which thanks to the AI
that gives an immersive sound , matching the sound with the movement of objects
on the screen. Unfortunately, at the Samsung Smart Home showroom in Milan, we
were unfortunately unable to try all these technologies, we could only take
advantage of an Xbox One on the Neo QLED 4K HDR TVs and the result was still
exceptional: very high clarity, excellent management of the less illuminated
areas (even along the edges), exceptional fluidity and almost non-existent
input lag.
Entertainment in 8K
As anticipated above, Samsung's Neo QLED 2021 TVs are
available both in 4K , from 50 "to 85" with suggested retail prices
starting from 1,799 euros, and from 8K with the top range QN800A and QN900A ,
from 65 "to 85" "inches and list prices starting from 3,999
euros. But do you reallys need to buy an 8K TV in 2021, given that all multimedia
content still stops at 4K? It is a question we ask ourselves as consumers but
that Samsung has also asked itself as a manufacturer, which is why it has
developed a technology for Neo Quantum that reconstructs 4K images in 8K., so
as to have improvements on any content, not just native 8K. We tried several
Netflix movies and TV series in 4K "rebuilt" in 8K on the top of the
85 "QN900A range and the result was remarkable, with exceptional lighting
management, bright but natural colors, high image reading. lesvel even with
less lighted areas thanks to Quantum HDR 64x .
On sizes over 65 "it may therefore make sense to buy an
8K thanks to Samsung's coding technology, which transforms even the normal Full
HD TV signal into 8K. Of course, the final results still depends on the quality
of the starting signal, not even a processor quantum can work wonders and show
information that doesn't exist, so beware of the sources of your entertainment.
The living room becomes an office
In case 8K is too much for your needs and budget, you are
still on the safe side with the 4K Neo QLEDs. In addition, all new Samsung
products enjoy a new Tizen software with different features designed in times
of pandemics . In fact, we can connect to the TV third-party webcam (Logitech
for the moment), make video calls with Skype and other video conferencing apps
(transforming the living room into a comfortable office or a place to make
video calls with the whole family sitting on the sofa ) or use Office
applicationsby directly connecting our Microsoft 365 account. And if you are
tired of having to look after the batteries of your TV remote control, the Neo
QLED 2021 come with a remote control in the box that is recharged by solar
energy , thanks to a panel mounted on the back, a small detail that we really
liked.
Lifestyle TV
Samsung's 2021 TV news are not finished yet, on the
Lifestyle TV front we were able to admire live the new The Frame , a television
that is in fact a picture to hang on the wall , a piece of furniture as well as
entertainment that thanks to the partnership with NAVA Contemporary and Etsy
you can view a multitude of original artistic works complete with Auto Curation
technology based on Artificial Intelligence, which learns from the user and
recommends the works according to his tastes. Being in the middle of summer, we
really enjoyed the new TV The Terrace, outdoor television that surprises due to
its reduced thickness despite the IP55 protection against water and dust and
its audio performance. It is in fact sold together with a sort of
high-performance soundbar, a second element to be hooked directly to the main
TV panel, for extreme ease of installation. The Terrace is available in 55
"and 65" sizes. And if not even the 85 "of the new 8Ks are not
enough, Samsung has thought of creating a new" vertical "projector
called The Premiere , the optimal solution to recreate your own personal cinema
up to 130" at home. Also available in 4K single laser version up to 120
", we admired the The Premiere 4K UHD LSP9T Triple Laser in operation from
6,499 euros, which covers 147% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, for jaw-dropping
results.
It reaches 2800 ANSI Lumen, so it can also be used during
the day, it is also sufficient to keep it 113 mm away from the wall to have a
projection from 100 ", to 238 mm for 130" . Even with this product
there is no lack of all the smart features of Samsung Tizen, with Bixby, Alexa
and even AirPlay 2 to project with a tap all the multimedia contents of our
iPhone, iPad or Mac. With The Priemere you can also play, thanks to the mode
Game Enhancer , although unfortunately we could not test the operation at the
Samsung Smart Home. The laser lights source has a lifespan of over 20,000
hours, so we can watch over 10,000 films without worrying.
Neo QLED in our opinion
At the end of our live experience we can say that Samsung
has worked really well to bring to its audience a new line-up of
high-performance TVs able to satisfy any need , from gaming to lifestyle. The
thickness of the new products is reduced to the extreme, also thanks to
external control units for flat inputs and power supplies that can be placed
both vertically and horizontally on a piece of furniture or placed on the stand
to support the TV included in the package.- although we absolutely recommend
that you hang Neo QLED TVs on the wall, as they are designed for this. The TV
then comes with a single cable, which manages audio / video signals and power
supply, for extreme cleaning. We are talking about products ready for the 8K
era, at least with the top range capable of reaching this resolution, while
everyone is equally ready to face the current gen of consoles that has just
begun - and therefore to support us for several years to come. Seeing Samsung's
new Neo QLED 2021 as a long-term investment is therefore not wrong, thanks to a
technological load capable of amortizing the initial expense over time. You
just have to choose the type of TV that best suits you.
